SMS-First Emergency Response

Problem Scope
Disaster apps assume connectivity. During typhoons, that assumption fails. Every team built online-first.
Role
Product Strategist & Design Lead
Tech Stack
- TensorFlow Lite for on-device flood risk prediction
- SQLite offline caching for maps and routing
- SMS-based authentication (no internet required)
- Deterministic offline-first design
case study
As Product Strategist and Design Lead for a collaborative hackathon team, I directed the architecture of an offline disaster response prototype using on-device TFLite inference and SMS authentication. We built this because standard emergency applications fail completely when typhoons destroy local cellular infrastructure.
Constraint & Solution
Offline-first architecture. SMS authentication instead of internet. On-device ML (TFLite) for flood prediction. Cached maps. Works without a signal.
